GUANGZHOU (ICIS news)--China’s Xiang Lu Group plans to start up its 800,000 tonne/year paraxylene (PX) and 1.5m tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plants in Fujian province by October 2011, a company source said on Friday.
Construction of the plants, located in Gulei island of the province’s Zhangzhou city, began in May 2009, the source added.
The PX plant would be operated by Dragon Aromatics (Zhangzhou) Ltd while the operator of the PTA plant would be Xiang Lu Petrochemical (Zhangzhou) Ltd, the source added.
Dragon Aromatics and Xiang Lu Petrochemical are the subsidiaries of China’s Xiang Lu Group.
The PX and PTA units would mainly provide feedstock for downstream fibre and garment manufacturers in the Chinese mainland, the source said.
Xiang Lu Petrochemical currently runs a 1.5m tonne/year PTA plant at Xiamen in the same province.
China’s Xiang Lu is a subsidiary of Taiwan’s Xiang Lu Group.
