LONDON (ICIS news)--Total has sold its consumer specialty chemicals business, Mapa Spontex, to US-based Jarden for €335m ($453m), the French energy and petrochemicals major said on Tuesday.
Total said Mapa Spontex, a manufacturer of baby and homecare products, would be a strategic fit for Jarden, which produces and markets niche consumer products.
“The transaction… allows Total to continue refocusing its chemicals portfolio on materials science, such as polymers, adhesives, rubber processing and electroplating,” said Francois Cornelis, president of Total Chemicals.
