LONDON (ICIS news)--Artenius’ polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plant at El Prat de Llobregat in Spain is set to restart production after its parent company La Seda de Barcelona gave the green light on Thursday.
La Seda de Barcelona said operational activity at the facility had started this week and would be gradually increased until reaching 100% of its installed capacity.
“Restarting production has been possible due to the creditor banks’ engagement in supporting the Company’s future project, negotiations with suppliers and customers, as well as the loan granted by the Catalan Finance Institute (ICF),” La Seda de Barcelona said.
It was previously suggested the 140,000 tonne/year plant would restart in December. This was later put back to February and then again postponed to March. It went down in September 2009, reportedly because of poor demand.
