SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--China’s Sinopec Shijiazhuang Refining & Chemical Co plans to restart its 90,000 tonne/year caprolactam line at Shijiazhuang in northern Hebei province on 8 May, a company source said on Wednesday.
The line was shut down on 24 April due to mechanical problems, the source added.
The company also operates a 70,000 tonne/year line at the same site, which is running normally, the source said.
Caprolactam is mainly used for producing polyamide-6, which in turn is used for manufacturing polyamide-6 fibre and nylon-6 engineering plastics. For more on caprolactam visit ICIS chemical intelligence
