Shutdown at Taiwan’s Formosa No 1 cracker to last a month

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Taiwan’s Formosa Petrochemical Corp (FPC) will shut its 700,000 tonne/year No 1 naphtha cracker in Mailiao for a month, following a blast on Wednesday, a company source said on Thursday.

The company’s two other crackers at the same site were operating at full tilt.

Formosa’s No 2 cracker has a nameplate ethylene capacity of 1.03m tonnes/year while its No 3 cracker can produce 1.2m tonnes/year of ethylene.
