SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand's PTT Chemical plans do a test run this week on the additional capacity of its high density polyethylene (HDPE) plant, a source close to the company said on Monday.
The 50,000 tonne/year capacity was an expansion of its existing 250,000 tonne/year plant.
The firm was also planning to start trial production at its new 250,000 tonne/year HDPE plant at the same site in mid-October, the source said.
The producer had not been able to start up these new capacities that completed construction in December 2009 due to a court suspension on what was then regarded as environmentally harmful projects. The injunction was lifted on 2 September.
PTT Chemical aimed to take the new capacities into commercial production by early 2011, said the source close to the company.
