SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Germany’s LANXESS and Taiwan’s TSRC Corp plan to start construction of their joint venture 30,000 tonne/year acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) plant at Nantong in eastern China on 16 September, a source close to the joint venture said on Tuesday.

LANXESS-TSRC (Nantong) Chemical Industrial Co Ltd, a 50:50 joint venture between the two firms, is expected to invest $50m (€40m) into the project.

The plant, located in Nantong Economic and Technological Development Zone in China’s Jiangsu province, was expected to start up in the first half of 2012 and would serve the rapidly growing Chinese market with high-quality grades of NBR, the source said.
