Gas burst at Qilu Petchem plant kills five, injures one - report

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Five people were killed in Shandong province Wednesday night due to a bursting of a pressurised gas container at Qilu Petrochemical’s plant in Zibo City, state-run media organisation Xinhua News Agency reported on Thursday.

The accident occurred at 20:38 hours (12:38 GMT) on 15 September during maintenance work at the plant, Xinhua said.

A gas container became dislodged and released nitrogen, killing two workers at the plant site. Three others were rushed to the hospital, where they died, while another worker was slightly injured, based on the news report.
