TORONTO (ICIS)--Eastman Chemical’s third quarter and full year 2010 earnings will beat expectations because of solid selling prices, high industry capacity utilisation rates, and a weaker-than-expected seasonal decline in sales volumes, chief executive Jim Rogers said on Thursday.

Third-quarter earnings per share were expected to come in at $2.20-2.30 (€1.69-1.77), and full-year 2010 earnings per share were expected to approach $7, he said.

Eastman’s earlier projection from July was for third-quarter earnings per share of $1.65-1.75 and full year 2010 earnings per share of $6.20-6.40.
