TORONTO (ICIS)--Solutia has begun a feasibility study for a new polyvinyl butyral (PVB) resin plant in the Asia Pacific region, the US-based chemicals producer said on Friday.
“The possible increased capacity realised from the addition of a resin plant in the Asia Pacific region would be used to meet the increasing demand for Saflex PVB sheet produced by our plant in Suzhou, China," said Tim Wessel, president of Solutia’s advanced interlayers division.
Solutia’s Saflex PVB sheets are used in laminated architectural and automotive glass.
The company said it expected to complete the study by the end of the year. Should it go ahead with the plan, construction could start soon after, it added without disclosing capacity data or investment sums.
Earlier this year, Solutia announced the addition of a second PVB line at ?xml:namespace>
