BASF nutrition and health unit to be headquartered in Lampertheim

LONDON (ICIS)--BASF will set up global headquarters for its new nutrition and health division in Lampertheim, Germany, the chemicals major said on Tuesday.

Around 150 employees, who are currently working at different locations in Ludwigshafen and Limburgerhof, will move into the currently empty office spaces at the start of 2011, the company said.

BASF added that Lampertheim would also remain the location of BASF Lampertheim GmbH, which manufactures high-performance plastic and coatings additives and other products for the performance chemicals division.

Until its establishment on 1 August, the businesses of the nutrition and health division, which was formed to prepare for the integration of the Cognis businesses, were part of the BASF care chemicals division.

The acquisition of Cognis is subject to clearance by the relevant merger control authorities and closing of the transaction was expected in November, said BASF.
