Europe October ECH rollover on balanced fundamentals

LONDON (ICIS)--European epichlorohydrin (ECH) October contracts settled at a rollover, according to most buyers and sellers on Tuesday.

Buyers attempted to negotiate a price fall on the back of weakened feedstock propylene numbers and faltering downstream epoxy resin demand, but most admitted they were forced to settle for stable numbers.

A couple of buyers said that they had achieved €30-50/tonne ($42-69/tonne) decreases, giving a low-end price of €1,700/tonne; but producers agreed this was below the rest of the market and that €1,750 remained the minimum.

Manufacturers largely resisted calls to drop their numbers, arguing limited availability because of feedstock shortages and ongoing maintenances.

ECH was therefore assessed stable at €1,750-1,800/tonne FD NWE, according to ICIS

($1 = €0.72)
