“The shut down will not have much impact on the current market as existing customers of the company have already purchased cargoes from the east China market,” a trader told ICIS in Mandarin.
Maoming Petrochemical also has a 380,000 tonne/year No 1 cracker, which would be shut down from 1 December, and a 640,000 tonne/year No 2 cracker, which would operate normally while the No 1 cracker remains off line for about 30 days, the source said.
The two crackers, which are located at the same site, are currently running at full capacity, the source added.
