SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s Siam Polyethylene has started commercial production at its new 350,000 tonne/year polyethylene (PE) plant in Mab Ta Phut, said an industry source familiar with the matter on Wednesday.
“Commercial runs have started since 7 November,” the source added.
For the first year, the plant would produce C8 metallocene linear low density polyethylene (MLLDPE), which was earmarked for export especially for the Chinese market, he said.
The old 300,000 tonne/year LLDPE plant at the same site would produce C8 MLLDPE and C4 LLDPE, the source said.
The producer was not available for comment.
