SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand's Bangkok Synthetics (BST) has restarted its methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) plant in Rayong following a regular turnaround, a source close to the company said on Friday.

BST shut the 55,000 tonne/year plant from 23 November - 9 December, he added.

“BST just started the plant last night. The plant is operating at near full capacity,” the source said.

MTBE is used as an additive to improve the octane levels in gasoline.
