SHANGHAI (ICIS)--China-listed Yueyang Xingchang Petrochemical started up its new 60,000 tonne/year methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) plant in central Hunan province on 4 January, the company said on Friday.
On-spec product was achieved on the same day, the company said in a newsletter on its website.
Yueyang Xingchang already operates a 90,000 tonne/year MTBE plant at the same site.
The company’s expanded capacity of 150,000 tonnes/year would help it meet the rising demand from the gasoline market, the newsletter said.
MTBE is widely used to increase octane level of gasoline.
