DUBAI (ICIS)--The Egyptian Styrenics Production Co (E-STYRENICS) hopes to start trial production at its new 200,000 tonne/year polystyrene (PS) plant in Alexandria, Egypt, in the fourth quarter of 2011, a source at the Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Co (Echem) said on Tuesday.
The PS plant will use imported styrene feedstock until Echem’s proposed new 100,000 tonne/year styrene plant at the same site is built, the source said on the sidelines of the Arabplast exhibition in ?xml:namespace>
Echem has been in talks with local banks to jointly build the styrene plant, the source added.
