LONDON (ICIS)--Kuwait’s Petrochemical Industries Company’s (PIC’s) urea production is back at normal operating rates following technical issues which reduced output, a company source said on Wednesday.

The 3,000 tonne/day Shuaiba urea facility had been operating at 50% for approximately 10 days due to the undisclosed technical problems, the source said.

The issues have been resolved and the unit was back operating at normal rates as of 11 January, the source added.

However, PIC’s spot availability has been reduced, with a reported 25,000-30,000 tonnes currently uncommitted for January shipment.

PIC is a major Arabian Gulf supplier of granular urea, with regular contract shipments to destinations including the US and Thailand.
