HOUSTON (ICIS)--US normal butanol imports for 2010 were up 9% from 2009, according to data released by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Friday.
US 2010 butanol exports rose by 9% to 254,555 tonnes, from 234,514 tonnes in 2009.
Exports rose last year as a result of increased global demand for downstream products such as glycol ethers, market sources said.
Exports in December fell 32% to 14,946 tonnes, down from 21,846 tonnes in 2009, the ITC said.
December exports rose by 30% from 11,538 tonnes in November 2010.
