HOUSTON (ICIS)--LyondellBasell’s La Porte cracker in Texas is operating normally following its restart in February, a company spokesman said on Thursday.

LyondellBasell restarted the 789,000 tonne/year cracker during 18-19 February following a shutdown of the ethylene unit on 16 February after a loss of steam.

The cracker had been running at reduced rates following an early February fire at feedstock supplier Enterprise Products’s natural gas liquids (NGL) plant in Mont Belvieu, Texas.

LyondellBasell CEO Jim Gallogly said in February the company was able to get feedstock ethane into La Porte soon after the fire, though at reduced rates.

On Thursday, company spokesman David Harpole said, “We have addressed logistical issues that were hindering our operations after the fire.”
