SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s LG Chem is running its phenol/acetone plant in Yeosu at full rate and is not offering spot cargoes for April and May, a source close to the company said on Friday.
The company last sold 1,000 tonnes of spot phenol to Japan for delivery in late March, he added.
“Domestic [phenol] demand has increased and the inventories are tight,” said the source, referring to firm demand in South Korea.
LG Chem's phenol/acetone plant can produce 300,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 180,000 tonnes/year of acetone.
