SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Evonik Degussa (China) has brought forward its regular methyl methacrylate (MMA) turnaround as a minor equipment failure was detected at the 100,000 tonne/year plant, a company source said on Friday.
The plant in Shanghai has been shut since the middle of last week and is expected to restart in the middle of April, the source said.
It was originally scheduled to be shut down in the middle of April for a two-week turnaround, the source said.
The impact of the shutdown is likely to be limited as most of the MMA is for captive use, other industry sources said.
MMA is used to produce polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), cast sheets and acrylic resins for coatings and emulsions.
