TORONTO (ICIS)--Air Products is expanding its electronic materials development and production facility in Carlsbad, California, to support rising demand from consumer devices markets, the US-based industrial gases major said on Wednesday.

Demand for Air Products' innovative chemicals and materials for use in next-generation consumer devices, such as smart-phones and tablet computers, is growing rapidly, the company said.

Air Products’ expansion project at Carlsbad includes an upgrade to laboratory facilities to support development and the scale-up of new products, it said.

Air Products would also install new tools for product development and process demonstration at the Carlsbad applications laboratory, it said.

Air Products did not say how much it would invest in the expansion.
