S Korea's Kumho P&B Chemicals to shut BPA unit on 11 May

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s Kumho P&B Chemicals plans to shut its 280,000 tonne/year bisphenol A (BPA) plant at Yeosu on 11 May for annual maintenance, a company source said on Monday.

The plant, which has a 130,000 tonne/year and a 150,000 tonne/year line, will remain shut until the end of May, the source added.

Asian spot BPA prices were stable at $2,480-2,520/tonne (€1,711-€1,739/tonne) CFR (cost & freight) China on 22 April, according to ICIS data. Upcoming shutdowns at regional BPA facilities are expected to fuel spot discussions despite lukewarm demand at the moment, sources said.
