Texas City residents told to stay in homes after BP outage - reports

HOUSTON (ICIS)--A shelter-in-place order was issued for Texas City residents on Monday night following a power outage at the BP refinery, according to news media reports.

The outage occurred about 23:00 hours Houston time (04:00 hours GMT 26 April), according to The Galveston Daily News.

The refinery was flaring its units to burn off excess product, the newspaper said.
