SAO PAULO (ICIS)--Braskem, the main producer of thermoplastic resins in Brazil, introduced 16 new products at the Brasilplast 2011 trade fair and conference, the company said on Monday.
Some PE resins were developed for use in fuel tanks; to facilitate high speed automatic packaging; or to balance rigidity and impact resistance.
Other PE resins were developed to reduce the weight of containers, while additives provide improved optic properties with better surface finish. Another new product was specified for refrigeration applications and presents better processability, sealing and elongation.
The new PP resins for rigid packaging applications provide high resistance to impacts. There were also compounds for automotive bumpers and panels, copolymers heterofasicos of high fluidity with low content of volatile organic compounds, and resins providing enhanced productivity for injected parts.
To bring more transparency for domestic applications, Braskem developed a random copolymer for injection and packaging parts with excellent transparency, in addition of having many of the properties listed above for PP resins.
Brasilplast is a major trade fair for the plastics industry in South America, and is organised and promoted by Reed Exhibitions Alcantara Machado, a joint venture between Reed Exhibitions and Alcantara Machado.
Brasilplast runs 9–13 May.
