HOUSTON (ICIS)--US exports of polycarbonate (PC) rose by 26.3% year on year, the International trade Commission (ITC) said on Wednesday.
US exports rose to 33,368 tonnes in March 2011, an increase from 26,410 tonnes in March 2010.
US exports fell month on month, however, down from 34,021 in February 2011, a decrease of 1.9%.
China remained the top destination for US EPS exports in March 2011 at 9,747 tonnes. However, China's volumes decreased from the 11,346 tonnes it imported from the US in February 2011.
While US PC imports fell by 17.6% year on year, down to 4,000 tonnes in March 2011 from 4,857 tonnes in March 2010, they increased month on month, up from 3,233 tonnes in February 2011, an increase of 23.7%.
Major US producers of PC are Bayer MaterialScience, SABIC Innovative Plastics and Styron.
