SHANGHAI (ICIS)--Major Taiwanese petrochemical producer, Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC), has restarted its 260,000 tonne/year acrylonitrile (ACN) plant at Mailiao in ?xml:namespace>
The plant was shut down on 13 May after the fire, which hit a pipeline at the petrochemical complex.
FPC restarted its ACN plant this week, but the source did not mention the actual date. “We have already restarted [the ACN plant] and are increasing its operating rate gradually. All things are going well,” the source said in Mandarin.
The fire was caused by a pipeline leak, but it had no impact on the plants at the site as most of them were immediately shut down when the fire occurred, the source added.
