SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Belgian chemicals and plastics producer Solvay said on Thursday it will invest about €15m ($21.7m) to expand its manufacturing capacity for high value-added specialty polymers perfluoropolyethers (PFPE) at Spinetta Marengo in Italy.
The capacity expansion for PFPE, marketed as Fomblin-Y and Galden, is expected to be completed by the end of 2012, the company said in a statement.
Details of the expansion were not disclosed.
Fomblin-Y is mainly used for industrial lubrication, while Galden is used as heat transfer fluid in semiconductor processing equipment and as a testing fluid for finished electronic components, Solvay said.
