May chemical production in Argentina rises 3.9% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Argentina’s May chemical production was 3.9% higher year on year, industry sources said on Friday.

However, production of basic chemical products fell by 0.3% in May, said Argentina’s Statistics Institute (INDEC). The institute does not provide tonnage figures for production.

Production of industrial gases was down 0.3%, the group said.

Production of plastic raw materials and synthetic rubber rose by 1.3% in May.

Agrochemicals production was down by 2.6% in May, while production of pharmaceutical products was up by 10.8%.

Production of detergents, soaps and personal products increased in May by 2.8% year on year.

Meanwhile, plastic products and rubber tyres production grew by 6.3% in May. Rubber tyre production led the segment with a 9.8% increase.

May production of plastic products grew by 5.7% year on year, INDEC said.
