LONDON (ICIS)--An explosion occurred at US-based Chemisphere’s storage facility in St Louis, Missouri, at around 02:30 local time (08:30 BST), media reports said on Monday.
Around 500 people were evacuated and a section of a nearby road was closed as firefighters fought the blaze. Reports suggest that the blaze is now under control.
Chemisphere’s storage facility holds tankers which contain highly flammable solvents.
