Solutia to build polyvinyl butyral plant in Malaysia complex

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US-based Solutia will build a polyvinyl butyral (PVB) plant at its complex in Kuantan, Malaysia, the company said on Monday.

The company did not release capacity figures, start-up dates or cost estimates.

Solutia's Saflex PVB interlayers are used for laminated glass.

Solutia has a facility in Kuantan that makes its Crystex insoluble sulphur, and is the largest facility of its kind in the world. Crystex is used to make rubber.
