HOUSTON (ICIS)--US August benzene contracts were confirmed settled at $4.13/gal on Friday, up by 44 cents/gal from July on the back of stronger benzene spot prices, volatile energy and lower benzene production rates during the month.
Trade sources said the settlement, which was in line with market expectations, was agreed to late on Thursday.
The settlement also represented the first increase in the benzene contract since May, when it settled up 35 cents/gal to $4.06/gal FOB (free on board).
