Meanwhile, the company’s No 2 and No 3 naphtha crackers continue to operate normally, the company source added.
“The crackers are not affected by the blast,” one trader said.
A fire broke out at a hydrogen pipeline in the vicinity of the Mailiao complex last week and FPCC could not restart the No 1 cracker as a result.
The company had shut the No 1 cracker for inspections following a pipeline fire at the firm’s Mailiao petrochemical complex on 12 May.
