SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Plastics Corp’s (FPC) 240,000 tonne/year low density PE (LDPE)/ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) swing plant at Mailiao is operating at full capacity and unaffected by the latest fire on 30 July, a company official said on Monday.

The company restarted operations at the PE/EVA plant on 27 July, soon after checks were completed at the plant following a fire at a hydrogen pipeline in the vicinity on the evening of 26 July, the official added.

Meanwhile, the company continued to withhold EVA August offers for a second straight week because of the fluid conditions.

“We will not have any offers for August EVA shipments until maybe the end of this week because we are now focussing on the safety of the plant and the situation remains unclear,” he said.
