Eastman facility in Longview TexasHOUSTON (ICIS)--Eastman Chemical is halting ethylene production at its HCC-4 Longview cracker in Texas, to repair a valve on one of the unit's cracking furnaces, the US-based company said on Wednesday.

"Ethylene or propylene will not be produced from HCC-4 during this partial shutdown," the company said in a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

The cracker has an ethylene production capacity of 358,000 tonnes/year.

"This is planned maintenance and the procedure will last two weeks," an Eastman spokesperson added.

The company has two other smaller crackers in Longview, each with 141,000 tonnes/year of production capacity.

Eastman shut down one of those units for three weeks in July to repair a vibration issue.
