GUANGZHOU (ICIS)--China’s Tangshan Jiahua Coal Chemical is planning to bring its new 200,000 tonne/year methanol plant at Tangshan in Hebei province on stream in August 2012, a company source said on Thursday.

The company started building the plant on 3 August 2011.

The yuan (CNY) 486m ($75m) plant will use coke oven gas (COG) as feedstock.

COG, which is a mixture of carbon monoxide, hydrogen and methane, is a byproduct of coke production.

The company produces 3.3m tonnes/year of coke, which yields some 400m cubic metres of COG, said the source.
