China’s Fujia Dahua runs aromatics unit at nearly 100% despite typhoon

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Fujia Dahua Petrochemical is running its Dalian aromatics unit at nearly full capacity even after the dam at the company’s aromatics complex was hit by typhoon Muifa, a company source said on Monday.

Repairs to the dam are underway, according to Xinhua News Agency.

“The port is closed now and shipments have all been suspended but we are not anticipating any significant delays to August shipments as the typhoon is expected to weaken soon,” the company official added.

The central meteorological station downgraded typhoon Muifa to a tropical storm on Monday morning. The weather agency added that it is expecting Muifa to weaken after making landfall between Liaoning province and North Korea later on Monday evening.

Fujia Dahua’s aromatics complex comprises a 700,000 tonne/year paraxylene (PX) unit, a 100,000 tonne/year orthoxylene (OX) unit and a 300,000 tonne/year benzene unit.
