HOUSTON (ICIS)--Dow Chemical has increased propylene glycol (PG) capacity at its Stade plant in Germany by 10,000 tonnes/year, the company said on Monday.

The move comes after the completion of routine maintenance at the plant, which optimised equipment, US-based Dow said. The plant now has a PG capacity of 280,000 tonnes/year.

Dow implemented an advanced energy and technology optimisation project last year, which resulted in a large scale expansion.

“Not only does this capacity increase advance Dow’s position to meet the growing demand for PG in Europe and across the globe, but it also brings additional support for de-icing demand during the winter months, after an industry shortage during the 2010-2011 winter season,” said Vincent Lacoste, PG product manager.
