SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Nan Ya Plastics is planning to restart its 130,000 tonne/year No 4 bisphenol A (BPA) line at Mailiao in mid-September, after it was shut on 12 June because of a government directive, a company source said on Monday.

The plant, along with some other facilities at the Mailiao complex of Formosa, was ordered shut for safety checks following a string of fires that hit the petrochemical site.

Nan Ya’s 90,000 tonne/year No 1 and 100,000 tonne/year No 2 lines at Mailiao are currently running at 90-100% capacity, while its 100,000 tonne/year No 3 line remains idle since mid-May because of pipeline issues, the source said.

A definite restart date has not been set for the No 3 unit, the source added.
