HOUSTON (ICIS)--Gevo has agreed a strategic marketing and offtake alliance for its isobutanol (IBA) with Mansfield Oil, the US-based renewable chemical firm said on Thursday.

Gevo said under a five-year contract, Mansfield will blend Gevo’s IBA for its own use, and it will be a distributor of the product.

Mansfield Oil, which is based in Gainesville, Georgia, markets and distributes fuel to commercial customers across all 50 US states.

Mansfield is an outstanding partner to help us both market and distribute our advanced biofuel product into a complex petroleum market,” said Gevo’s chief operating officer, Christopher Ryan.

“They will help us manage the supply chain and logistics required to efficiently move our product to market,” he added.

Financial or volume details were not disclosed.

Earlier this month, Gevo entered into an offtake agreement with Sasol. Under that deal, Sasol will sell Gevo’s IBA as a chemical intermediate to customers in the paint, ink and coating markets, among others.
