HOUSTON (ICIS)--The initial settlement for the September barge acetone contract was reached on Thursday at a rollover from August, sources said on Thursday.
The first settlement was agreed to at 61 cents/lb ($1,345/tonne, €955/tonne) DEL (delivered) barges.
If the contract is fully settled at this level, it would represent the third consecutive month for barge acetone at this price.
“We were happy to settle early considering the shakiness of the market,” a producer said.
The US barge acetone contract is settled between three of the largest acetone producers – Georgia Gulf, INEOS Phenol and Shell Chemical – and the three largest producers of methyl methacrylate (MMA) – Dow Chemical, Evonik and Lucite.
($1 = €0.71)
