SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Shen Hua Chemical Industrial plans to shut its 180,000 tonne/year styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) plant at Nantong, Jiangsu province, in October for regular maintenance, an industry source said on Friday.
The plant will be shut on 12 October and will likely be off line for up to three weeks, the source said.
The SBR unit - which has two lines producing oil-extended SBR 1712 and one line producing non-oil SBR 1502 - is currently running at full capacity, the source said.
The shutdown of Shenhua’s plant may not tighten SBR supply in the Chinese market in October, as new supply will become available, a trader said.
Fuxiang Chemical will start up its new 100,000 tonne/year plant at Quanzhou, Fujian province in mid-September, while Tianjin Lugang Petroleum Rubber will restart its 100,000 tonne/year SBR at the end of the month.
