CARACAS (ICIS)--Venezuela’s largest plastics parts manufacturing complex will be operating by the end of this year, a government official said on Friday.

The complex will use equipment and machinery from Iran, said Venezuela Science and Technology Minister Ricardo Menendez.

The complex will include two plants in the cities of Ocumare and Yare, near the capital of Caracas, with 65 injection machines between the two.

The plants will produce injected plastic parts and moulds for food packaging, Chinese and Iranian automobiles, as well as for Chinese motorcycles and Chinese electric home appliances.

This is the first time Venezuela has ventured into large-scale plastic parts manufacturing, the Science and Technology Ministry said.

Venezuela state-owned petrochemicals producer Pequiven will provide feedstock for the complex.

Production capacity numbers were not provided.
