Saudi’s SABIC subsidiary plans compounding plant in Chongqing

GUANGZHOU (ICIS)--Saudi Arabia’s SABIC Innovative Plastics is planning to build an engineering thermoplastics compounding plant in China’s Chongqing municipality to meet growing demand for its products, a Chinese governmental official said on Monday.

The plant will have a capacity of 100,000 tonnes/year and will start operations in 2013, according to the official from Chongqing Economics and Information Commission.

The products will be used in electronics, computers and automotives, the official said.

It is not known how much will be invested in the project.

SABIC Innovative Plastics is a subsidiary of SABIC.
