LONDON (ICIS)--Australian fertilizer producer Incitec Pivot Ltd (IPL) plans to build a new ammonium nitrate (AN) manufacturing plant at its existing fertilizer facility in New South Wales (NSW), the company said on Thursday.
IPL announced a feasibility study into the construction of a world-scale, state-of-the-art AN plant at its site on Kooragang Island, Newcastle.
The study is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2012 and follows discussions with customers, IPL said in a statement to the Australian Stock Exchange.
The plant would produce AN for the mining industry in NSW, particularly in the Hunter Valley; for export, and for urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) for agricultural use.
