SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) may shut its 400,000 tonne/year linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) plant at Map Ta Phut in mid-November because of weak domestic demand, a company source said on Wednesday.
“The plant may be shut for two weeks,” the source said
Domestic demand is weak because of the massive floods that have hit several parts of the country in recent weeks, the source said.
Some plastics processing plants have cut or stopped their operations, either because their factories are flooded or their supply of raw material has been disrupted as a result of the floods, he said.
