Worker killed in accident at BASF’s Ludwigshafen site in Germany

LONDON (ICIS)--A worker died on Friday in an accident during repair work at BASF’s petrochemicals hub in Ludwigshafen, Germany, the chemicals major said.

The worker, from BASF’s logistics affiliate KTL Kombi Terminal, died as a result of an electrical shock suffered during repair work on a crane. The accident happened at around 10:20 hours Ludwigshafen time, BASF said.

BASF informed authorities and began an investigation to determine how the accident happened, it said.

KTL is a logistics venture between BASF and four logistics and freight forwarding firms. It operates out of BASF’s Ludwigshafen site and has a staff of 157.
