SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Technip has been awarded a lump sum turnkey engineering, procurement and construction contract by tyre maker Michelin Siam for a new elastomer composite plant at Songkhla province in Thailand, the France-based company said on Tuesday.

The contract covers preliminary engineering, detailed engineering, project management, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning, and start-up assistance for the plant, Technip said in a statement.

The facility, which is scheduled to be completed in early 2013, will produce rubber composites, the company said.

Technip’s operating centre in Bangkok will carry out the work, the firm added.

The firm did not disclose the financial details of the contract.
