SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Linde has been awarded a deal to manage the entire gas system of Chinese steel firm Hebei Puyang Iron & Steel at its steelworks site at Wu’an in Henan province, the German industrial gases firm said on Tuesday.
Under the deal, Linde will acquire the steelworks’ seven existing air separation units (ASUs) and pipeline network, and will operate and upgrade them, the company said in a statement.
Linde will be investing around €120m ($160m) in the project, the statement said.
In addition, the company will build a new ASU at the Wu’an site with a production capacity of 30,000 normal cubic metres/hour (cbm) of oxygen, according to the firm.
The new ASU, which will produce surplus liquid gases for the regional market, is scheduled to come on stream in 2014, Linde added.
Hebei Puyang Iron & Steel produces around 6m tonnes/year of steel in Wu’an.
